Committee Policies

Technology Policy

  • Phones are not allowed out in committee.

  • Laptops, iPads, tablets, etc. are only allowed in committee during time designated to working papers (this typically occurs after committee session 3).

  • Delegates should bring their laptops in their YMUN bags on days 2 and 3 of conference but can only take them out during working paper time.

  • Delegates are only allowed to work on their working papers during committee.

  • If a delegate is found to have worked on their working paper outside of committee, it will be disqualified and the delegate will be ineligible for awards.

Note Policy 

  • Delegates may bring whatever notes they like with them to committee including but not limited to topic guides.

  • Delegates cannot pre-draft working papers and bring them to committee as “notes.”

  • Chairs will use their discretion to ensure delegates have not pre-drafted resolutions in their notes.

  • If a delegate is found to have done so, their working paper will be disqualified and they will be ineligible for awards.

AI Policy

  • All use of AI is strictly prohibited.

  • Delegates are not permitted to use Chat GPT or other AI softwares during committee session.

  • If use of AI is detected in position papers, those position papers will be disqualified and the delegate will be ineligible for awards.

  • If use of AI is detected on working papers, those working papers will be disqualified and the delegate will be ineligible for awards.

Behavior Policy

  • Bullying, Discrimination, and Harassment are strictly prohibited.

  • Mistreatment of fellow delegates, chairs, or Secretariat members will result in removal from committee and potential removal from the conference at the Secretariat’s discretion.

  • Repeated infractions will result in removal from the conference.

Language Policy

  • All committees are conducted in English with the exception of LAP, which is conducted in Spanish.

  • As a matter of equity, in committees conducted in English, all conversation in that committee must be had in English. This includes conversations during unmods.
